To
ensure the safety of our employees and offshore operations, we have established
vigorous offshore emergency response and rescue systems. Since the system is
set up according to SOS call of wreck or the direction of Internal Maritime
Search and Rescue Center, CNOOC Ltd. has aggressively and initiatively
participated in salvage many times by using these existing facilities. In 2005,
CNOOC Ltd. participated in a total of more than 30 sea and aerial rescuing
activities in offshore China. The speedy response and appropriate handling of
CNOOC Ltd during salvage activities won high appreciation from relevant local
governments and the wreck.
● On February 16, 2005, in the Penglai 19-3 oil field, Cargoship “Guyuan”
suddenly caught fire and lost control. Tianjin Brach coordinated two
work-boats, successfully rescuing a total of 19 people in distress. On March
24, Tianjin Marine Search and Rescue Center, Maritime Safety Administration of
Tianjin acknowledged the outstanding performance of the Tianjin Branch in
offshore salvage activities, and presented them a tablet engraved with, “Love
as sea, merits and virtues as mountains”.
● On February 21, 2005, a general cargo ship “Jinminjiang 16” caught fire in
the Dong Fang Block. Zhanjiang Branch participated in the salvage, saving the
entire crew of 17, and extinguishing the conflagration.
● On April 4, 2005, a Taiwanese fishing vessel caught fire and lay in distress
near Weizhou Island in North Bay. Zhanjiang Branch immediately sent Naihai 201
to the rescue. On June 17, a gale suddenly rose in Tianjin Harbor, endangering
21 workers outside the harbor. Tianjin branch took part in the rescue.
● On August 17, 2005, CNOOC Ltd. Tianjin Branch participated in two salvage
operations. They coordinated the deployment of three work-boats and one
helicopter, playing a key role in the offshore salvage of “Zhuyang 3” and
“Yongning 7”.
● On October 21, 2005, the rescue of “Fishing-boat No.11236” by Tianjin
Branch, was commended by Liaoning Huludao local city government.
